Quick Answer: FN Swing Pro is a free TradingView indicator that plots a two-layer swing structure — a Major wave that shapes the overall trend, and Minor waves nested inside it — giving you a clean skeleton of the market instead of a single tangled zigzag line. It auto-labels Higher-High, Higher-Low, Lower-High, and Lower-Low on the Major swing, is non-repainting, and can overlay a swing structure from a higher timeframe directly on your current chart.
If you've read our guide on market structure in forex, you already know why identifying swing highs and lows correctly is the foundation everything else — BOS, CHoCH, trend direction — is built on. FN Swing Pro is that foundation, drawn automatically and split into two layers instead of one.
What Is FN Swing Pro?#
FN Swing Pro plots a two-layer swing structure: which are the major waves, which minor waves nest inside them, and whether price is printing higher highs/higher lows or lower highs/lower lows. It uses a standard alternating high-low zigzag, is non-repainting, and includes price-compression reading tools like Inside/Outside Bar detection and consolidation zones. It's free to use on any TradingView chart — no FN Trading Lab account or rebate registration required.
Dual-Layer Swings#
- Major swing — the larger wave that shapes the trend; sensitivity is adjustable via "Major Swing Strength."
- Minor swing (TLP/Minor) — smaller waves nested inside each major swing leg, revealing the micro-structure most single-layer zigzag scripts miss entirely.
Each layer has independently configurable color, line width, line style (solid/dashed/dotted), and how many swings stay on the chart at once — so you can run both layers together or isolate whichever one matches the timeframe you're trading.
Standard Alternating Zigzag#
Every segment always connects a high to a low, never high-to-high or low-to-low. When two same-direction pivots occur back to back, the indicator automatically shifts the endpoint to the more extreme point (the lower low, or the higher high) and redraws the segment, instead of leaving a structurally invalid segment on your chart.
HH / HL / LH / LL Labels#
The indicator automatically labels Higher-High, Higher-Low, Lower-High, and Lower-Low on Major swing points, comparing each one to the nearest point of the same type. Label color changes by direction, with an option to show price alongside the label and adjustable font size — so reading trend direction at a glance doesn't require mentally comparing swing points yourself.
Swing From Another Timeframe#
FN Swing Pro can plot an additional swing layer sourced from a higher timeframe (H1 by default) directly on your current chart, letting you cross-check multi-timeframe structure without switching charts. It uses closed-candle data and time-based coordinates, so it doesn't repaint and stays correctly positioned through weekend gaps or session gaps. A label marks which timeframe is being displayed, so you always know what you're looking at.
Inside / Outside Bar#
The indicator separately colors Inside bars (price compression) and Outside bars (price expansion). A "Strictness" parameter filters out noise — lower values flag only clearly pronounced compression or expansion bars, so you're not drowning in marginal signals.
Consolidation Zone#
FN Swing Pro automatically draws a box around consecutive Inside Bars — where the market is compressing before a potential expansion. The minimum bar count needed to form a zone, background color, border color, and number of zones retained are all configurable.
Alerts#
- New Major swing high confirmed.
- New Major swing low confirmed.
- A consolidation zone is forming.
What Makes This Original#
Rather than plotting a single swing layer like most zigzag scripts, FN Swing Pro renders two independently configurable swing layers (Major and Minor) at once, with automatic pivot-correction logic that prevents structurally invalid same-direction segments. It adds a non-repainting higher-timeframe swing overlay computed from closed higher-timeframe data and rendered directly on the current chart, without switching resolution. Combining dual-layer swing detection, HH/HL/LH/LL labeling, and a closed-candle cross-timeframe overlay into one non-repainting tool is the original contribution beyond a standard single-layer zigzag script.
Usage Tips#
Increase "Major Swing Strength" if the chart looks too cluttered; decrease it if you trade lower timeframes and need more pivot points. Enable the higher-timeframe swing layer when you want to check whether lower-timeframe structure aligns with the higher-timeframe trend. If you also want the timing context behind a structure shift — which session it happened in, and where the nearest session pivot sits — pair this with FN ICT Killzones & Pivot.
How to Add It to Your Chart#
FN Swing Pro is free and public on TradingView — there's no FN Trading Lab account or rebate registration required. Open the script page, click "Add to Chart," and it's live on your chart immediately: FN Swing Pro on TradingView.
