Quick Answer: XM offers four main account types: Micro, Standard, Ultra Low, and Zero. Micro and Standard share the same spread structure and only differ in minimum lot size. Ultra Low offers tighter spreads meaningfully — for example, Gold spreads run $0.32-$0.35 versus $0.56-$0.58 on Standard. Zero has near-zero spreads plus a separate commission, but it's only available on accounts registered under the CySEC entity.
If you've already read our XM broker review and are trying to decide which account type to open, this breakdown compares actual spread and rebate figures across account types — based on the current pricing sheet FN Trading Lab uses for XM clients.
XM's Four Account Types
Note: Micro effectively shares the same spread structure and conditions as Standard — the only real difference is minimum lot size, which lets beginners trade with smaller position sizes. The same relationship holds between Micro Ultra Low and Ultra Low.
Here's a reference spread comparison for popular instruments, based on the pricing FN Trading Lab currently applies for clients routed through our XM link:
Figures reflect average reference spreads at the time of writing (July 3, 2026) and can shift with market conditions. Ultra Low shows a clear edge on Gold, Silver, BTC, and ETH, while the gap narrows on some FX majors like AUD/USD.
This is the part most traders overlook: even though Ultra Low has tighter spreads, the rebate you earn through FN Trading Lab on Standard is actually higher — because rebates are paid out of the spread markup, and a wider spread leaves more room to share back.
Max tier applies once monthly volume reaches 50 lots or more (auto-upgraded from the default 60% payout tier to 90%). If volume drops below 50 lots/month for two consecutive months, the account reverts to the 60% tier.
In practice: if you trade small to medium volume, Standard/Micro typically nets you a higher rebate — offsetting the wider spread. If you're a high-frequency trader (EA/scalping at scale) chasing the lowest possible spread, Ultra Low or Zero may still come out ahead on net cost (spread minus rebate), depending on your strategy.
The Zero account isn't part of the standard rebate pricing table above — it runs on a different fee model entirely (near-zero spread plus a fixed commission), and it's only available to clients registered under the CySEC entity. If your account was opened under a different entity (for example, IFSC/Belize), Zero may simply not appear as an option.
Based on publicly available information, Zero spreads start from 0.0 pips on major pairs, with a reference commission of roughly $3.50 per $100,000 traded, and a higher minimum deposit than Standard/Ultra Low (reportedly around $100). These figures haven't been confirmed against our internal pricing sheet — contact FN Trading Lab directly to confirm the exact rebate and terms for a Zero account before opening one.
If you're still unsure, XM lets you open multiple account types under one verified KYC profile — you can test both Standard and Ultra Low on demo before committing real capital. For the step-by-step registration process, see our review of XM's rebate program, and if you're planning to run an EA or scalp, it's worth checking which account type fits automated strategies best before you settle on one.
XM Broker Rebate Fee Schedule
There's no single "best" XM account type — the right choice depends on your trading style and whether you'd rather optimize for a lower spread or a higher rebate. Standard delivers the highest rebate through FN Trading Lab, Ultra Low reduces net cost on specific instruments like Gold and Silver, and Zero suits high-frequency traders who qualify under the CySEC entity. If you're still on the fence, reach out to FN Trading Lab for guidance tailored to your actual trading strategy.
Risk warning: Trading forex and CFDs carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Spreads and rebate rates can change based on market conditions and XM/FN Trading Lab policy — please confirm the latest figures before trading. This is not investment advice.
